On April 25, the Sendai Regional Meteorological Administration announced the weather forecast for the next three months, from May to July, for the Tohoku region. Due to a tendency to be covered with warm air, the temperatures during these three months are expected to be around average or higher than average.

Regarding the monthly forecast, the weather in May is expected to change every few days. In June, the weather is expected to change every few days during the first half of the period and have many cloudy or rainy days during the second half, similar to a typical year. In July, there are also expected to be many cloudy or rainy days, similar to a typical year. The average monthly temperature is predicted to be around average for May and July, and around average or higher than average for June. The precipitation is expected to be around average for each month.

Additionally, the weather between May 1 and May 20 in the Tohoku region, including this prefecture, was influenced by warm air from the south during the first half of the period, resulting in temperatures above average for this time of year. Due to high-pressure systems and many sunny days, the amount of sunlight exceeded the average, and precipitation was below average in many areas. However, some areas experienced more rain than average due to the influence of low-pressure systems and fronts.

During this same period, the average temperature for the Tohoku region facing the Japan Sea, including this prefecture, was 2.4 degrees Celsius higher than average, with an 8% increase in sunlight and a significant increase of 24% in precipitation compared to the average.
